*Update*

Since Publishing, the Gypsy Moth has received a name change and is now to be referred to as “Spongy Moth” due to the history of use of the former name “Gypsy” and the derogatory meaning behind it. The change was announced by the Entomological Society of America in March of 2022.

Though the infestation is over, monitoring and control efforts will continue in an effort to reduce the opportunity for this infestation to reach critical mass.
