Paul Zimmer

President and Operations Manager

Paul Zimmer is the current President and Operations Manager of Zimmer Air Services Inc. and has held that position since 1988. Growing up in an aviation family with a father that flew helicopters and was employed as a Fixed Wing Fire Bomber Pilot for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, it was a logical choice to enter the aviation field when his father started his own aviation company in SW Ontario in 1975.

He is a graduate of the AMT program at Centennial College and holds an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence, M1 and M2, with experience on both rotary and fixed wing. Paul also holds a Commercial Pilot Licence, Rotary.

2015 marks his 40th year in the industry, all with Zimmer Air Services Inc,. except for the time to obtain his credentials through training programs and apprenticeships. Working on a wide variety of aviation related opportunities in Canada, Central, and South America, Paul has a very good understanding of how this industry works and through his leadership and hard work has built a company committed to quality, service, and safety.

Tim Nelson

Chief Pilot

Tim Nelson grew up on a dairy farm near Palmerston Ontario. Tim was bitten by the aviation bug quite early and chose to pursue a career as a helicopter pilot instead of following his father in agribusiness.

He attended the Canadore College Commercial Helicopter Pilot Program in North Bay, graduating class of 1989. Upon his graduation he was hired by Zimmer Air Services Inc. as an entry level pilot and ground support worker where he began his professional flying career. Tim’s enthusiasm, work ethic, and professional approach to his craft allowed him to quickly excel in the company becoming the Chief Pilot of Zimmer Air Services Inc. in 1998. As much of the work that Zimmer Air does is related to agribusiness, Tim has maintained his ties to his farming roots.

In 2003 Tim obtained his Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence, M1, following successful completion of the International Correspondence Schools Outreach Course and apprenticeship at Zimmer Air Services Inc.

When not flying, carrying out his duties as Chief Pilot, or subbing as Operations Manager in Paul Zimmer’s absence, you can find Tim taking an active role in maintaining the aircraft he flies at Zimmer Air Services.
