Mosquito
Biting Fly Consulting Services
With over 20 years of experience, Zimmer Air Services Inc. in partnership with Pestalto Environmental Health Services Inc. can offer a full service vector control / vector management program for your community.
West Nile Virus and its potential life threatening health effects are here to stay. In the 1980’s an emergency response to St. Louis Encephalitis was delivered by large aircraft in Canada. In 1999 in New York city a fleet of helicopters mounted an aerial assault on mosquitoes to halt the spread of the West Nile Virus.
Today many, Federal, Provincial, and Municipal agencies throughout Canada use helicopters as part of their overall integrated pest control strategy to reduce the incidence of mosquito borne vectors such as West Nile Virus.
Zimmer Air Services has the GPS technology to map breeding sites by air to identity and monitor problem areas within your community. Ground surveys often completely miss or misinterpret the size and scope of breeding sites because these bog and swamp sites are generally inaccessible by ground to survey.
GPS and onboard computer software will provide accurate dimensions of the breeding site - taking the guess work out of how much product is required to effectively manage your biting fly program. The benefits of aerial application over ground application of either granular or liquid product to control larvae and adult biting fly populations are many… fast, accurate treatments to meet critical timing schedules; with onboard computer and GPS compatible software there are “no gaps in product coverage”; spray or granular product calibration based on exact site aerial mapping means “no product waste” and no double swathing. All of this adds up to a cost effective approach to managing your biting fly program. At the end of the program you will have accurate treatment records in either electronic data and / or paper form.
Mosquito Larvacide Program and Municipalities
Many municipalities budget for an aggressive mosquito larvacide program to substantially cut down the populations of nuisance mosquitos. By applying a granular mosquito control product into wetland larval breeding sites in the spring, mosquito hatches can be drastically reduced providing residents with an opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities and subsequently benefit from a more active and healthier lifestyle.
Zimmer Air has the application equipment and knowledge to set up and administer this type of program. Guidelines as established by the Ministry of the Environment are strictly enforced.
Product labels, application guidelines, aviation safety procedures are all carefully considered before any flight operation.
